Their feet hit gritty pavement.
It's the middle of a block of foggy street in a run-down commercial district. Not the skyscrapers of New York, but squat, huddled old buildings of a quaint New England town. Behind them is a dusty toy store; other storefronts litter the street to either side and in front.
The whole place echoes emptily, the movement of the fog the only sound other than themselves.
Amber scuffs a sneaker on the asphalt. "So... yeah. Here it is."

Sky Toys (Foggy World)

The carpet is hard and sky blue. There are shelves around her, stocked with dusty toys. More toys hang from the white ceiling, spinning gently back and forth. Sunlight, filtered by fog, streams in from a picture window.
She sits up.
The gun is still in her hand. It's down on bullets. (She reloads.) Everything is all there. Except "there" is somewhere she's never seen.
Not that she is complaining. An abandoned toy store is infinitely preferable to where she just was.
She wearily pulls herself to her feet, rubbing her head.
And then she notices the quiet voice, slightly muffled by shelving and distance. She pads through the aisles, ears straining to find its source. Right now, anyone alive is better than complete solitude.

Who are/were your parents? Do you have any siblings?
No siblings. No father. Mom gets disability.
What is your occupation?
Student. Crappy summer jobs.
What is/are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
Riding the trains and buses. Sometimes I take one out of town.
Write a full physical description of yourself.
5'6". Brown hair. Blue eyes. Kind of skinny. Comfortable clothes. Got an old bag with stuff so I can take off when I need to.
What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
First time I rode on the subway alone.
Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Not much to be optimistic about. You just keep going while you can.
In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
Don't know a lot of folks well. They're kind of annoying, usually. Talk about stupid things. Some folks're OK, and I put up with 'em more. Don't really let anyone close. Not that there's anyone listening enough to get that close.
Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
Plans get shit on. I adapt.
What is your greatest strength as a person?
I don't need anybody's help.
What is your greatest weakness?
Not good at social stuff. And the rap sheet on vandalism makes getting jobs suck sometimes.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Take away the drawing thing.
